Biography

Ariel Petrie grew up listening to many different styles of music. Artists such as Copeland, mewithoutYou, Ingrid Michaelson, and various other indie artists inspired her to write more thought provoking lyrics. However, she still drew influence from modern day pop artists such as Katy Perry, Sara Bareilles, Coldplay, OneRepublic, Adele, and Maroon 5. To merge these 2 seemingly opposing influences – poetic verses pop – Ariel has combined the whimsical wonderment from the pop realm with the poetic ponderment from lyrical indie artists to create a truly captivating sound within the pop genre.

Ariel was born in Phoenix, Arizona and grew up moving between Heyworth, Illinois and her home-state most of her childhood. Classically trained on piano since the age of 8 and began writing her own music at age 11, Ariel is no stranger to music theory which helps in her songwriting process. At age 18, Ariel was a contestant on the 1st season of The X-Factor USA, making it through the judges round with an original song. It was the 2nd round of Boot Camp that sent Ariel home, but she left with the courage and confidence to move forward with her music career.

The past 3 years Ariel has been navigating her way around Nashville, Tennessee as a local. In that time she’s played dozens shows at iconic venues such as The Basement, The Basement East, Puckett’s Grocery, The Commodore Grille, Springwater Supper Club, Bobby’s Idle Hour Tavern, and more. Her Fall 2016 tour took her to North Carolina, Illinois, and Arizona to promote her latest EP “Magic” to cities where her largest fan-base hubs are located.

Ariel continues to write, perform, record and release music. Chances are, she’s working on her next big release as you’re reading this! Don’t miss a thing: be sure to follow her on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, iTunes, and Spotify.
